Abdul Fattah

Capt. Abdul Fattah’s shipping career spans an impressive 45 years, marked by significant achievements:
Commencing as a cadet in the Merchant Navy in 1968, Capt. Abdul Fattah swiftly rose through the ranks. Notably, he attained the Masters exam at a remarkably young age in 1979, reflecting his dedication and expertise.
In 1983, he established Scancom, marking the beginning of a decade-long period during which the company gained recognition for efficiently handling substantial bulk cargo—up to million tonnes—such as wheat, coal, and fertilizer at KPT and Port Qasim. Moreover, Scancom pioneered the coordination of LPG imports into Pakistan, a pioneering feat for the industry.
In 1995, Capt. Abdul Fattah expanded operations by inaugurating an office in Dubai, named Shipping World LLC. Over the subsequent decade, in collaboration with his partners, they facilitated the sale of more than 50 vessels for recycling through cash buying.
In 2005, Shipping World LLC ventured into trading vessels, culminating in a merger with Etihad Group in 2008.
From 2010 onward, Capt. Abdul Fattah delved into the SnP (Sale and Purchase) business, demonstrating expertise in purchasing vessels on a cash basis and possessing the technical prowess to ensure their delivery to Gadani/Alang.
With a solid foundation of goodwill and a sterling reputation in the Pakistani Maritime Industry, Scancom diversified its operations in 2019 by inaugurating its manning and crewing division.

Obaid Fattah
(Managing Director)
Obaid Fattah, as the Managing Director of Scancom Trading and Shipping Ltd, upholds the legacy established by his father, Capt. Abdul Fattah. With a focus on expansion, operational oversight, strategic direction, and growth, Obaid assumed his role in 2019 after spending 22 years abroad, contributing to startups in the retail and real estate sectors.
His engagement extends beyond business realms, actively participating as a permanent committee member of Marine Training Institute and as a member of the Rotary Club in Karachi.
Embracing a pragmatic approach, Obaid believes in cultivating strong relationships and collaborative strategies as the foundation of successful business ventures.
Obaid is a firm believer in community service, and a pivotal factor in his decision to return was his strong desire to contribute to the community. Since coming back, he has wholeheartedly committed himself to volunteer at the Artificial Limb Centre, affiliated with Health and Social Welfare Association (HASWA). He has taken the lead in initiating an education program for children without limbs, a noteworthy effort that has earned him a position on the board at HASWA. Furthermore, Obaid collaborates closely with The Citizens foundation, actively advocating for accessible education.
His dedication to professional development is evident through his accomplishments. In 2022, Obaid obtained a certification in green ship recycling from Lloyds Maritime. Furthermore, as of 2023, he attained the status of an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute, showcasing his commitment to advancing within the maritime field.
Capt. Rashid Anwar

Capt. Rashid Anwar boasts an illustrious career spanning an impressive forty-two years, wielding expertise across diverse maritime roles:
His journey encompasses a rich tapestry of positions, including Ship Master, Port Captain, General Manager, and Senior Lecturer (MCA approved) specializing in Nautical studies, Safety Security, and Logistics. Additionally, he has served in pivotal roles as a Nautical Surveyor, Deputy Chief Nautical Surveyor, and even as the Director ISPS, holding the esteemed designation as the Designated Authority for Pakistan.
Notably, his tenure culminated with a significant governmental responsibility within the Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, underscoring his depth of experience and authority within the maritime domain.
